Comments about Blur (Xbox 360):
Blur is another excellent racing game from the house of Bizarre Creations but with a weapons twist.
The graphics are excellent, I suggest reviewing the Digital Foundry tech analysis article found at Eurogamer.com for a highly detailed review of the tech in Blur. The synopsys is: "full 720p resolution, high levels of anti-aliasing, up to 20 cars on-screen at any point, a large, highly detailed rear-view mirror, masses of post-processing effects, no LOD popping". Suffice to say, Blur is one impressive looking game.
Gameplay wise Blur is simply excellent, especially online where skill and luck play a big part of competing along with your knowledge of the tracks and powerups. As one is always levelling up, it matters little if you finish first or last as Blur is about causing as much carnage as possible during the races. This earns you fan points (the same as the Kudos system from the sublime PGR series) which will unlock better vehicles.
The single player game is very enjoyable but suffers from difficulty spikes a little way in. Hard difficulty, in Bizarre Creations tradition, is very challenging indeed. Most players will find easy or normal difficulty to their liking. Completing single player boss battles enables you to take their cars online.
Finally, rejoice those without Xbox Live as Bizarre also included a 4 player split screen mode!
Overall, Blur is an extremely satisfying experience & well worth buying. An 8.5/10 effort from Bizarre Creations.
